The Roudnice Gallery exhibits modern and contemporary art. A selection of paintings and sculptures from the gallery's collections are presented in a permanent exhibition in the former riding hall of Lobkowicz Castle. An illustrative cross-section of 20th century Czech art begins with the work of landscape painter Antonín Slavíček and his contemporaries (A. Hudeček, O. Nejedlý, M. Jiránek). In addition, works from the Cubist and avant-garde movements (J. Čapek, E. Filla, V. Špála, J. Zrzavý, K. Lhoták, F. Muzika, F. Janoušek) and works created in the 1960s (M. Medek, V. Boštík, J. Vožniak, O. Slavík) or authentic works from the period of normalization (J. and K. Válovy, A. Šimotová, Z. Sion) to contemporary art. These are realized both through current exhibitions and through interventions that revive the works in the permanent exhibition. The exhibition program focuses on personalities of Czech art, site-specific installations that use the spatial potential of the Baroque riding hall from the last quarter of the 17th century, as well as exhibitions of contemporary and experimental art. The gallery is located near Prague and within sight of Mount Říp and benefits from its proximity to the city center and the specific character of the region.
